How much money do you need to spend to get clear, acne free skin? We are constantly bombarded with skin care ads that tell us about how their product will transform our skin within a week. So you give in to temptation and buy it. You walk out of the store all excited, thinking you have found the holy grail of all products. You can’t wait to get home to try it out. Religiously the product is applied every night, or whenever suggested. You check your face in the mirror every day to see if there is any improvement. A week later? Crickets!! Your skin is the same as it was a week back. A month later this cycle gets repeated. The only thing that changes is your bank balance while the state of your skin remains the same. Or if you are really unlucky, gets worse.
Why You Should Never Take Accutane – Part II
This is the second post on Accutane. Please click here to read the first part.
So how far would you be willing to go for clear skin? Would you be willing to put your whole body at risk? Only if you have experienced acne first hand will you understand the pain and frustration when nothing works to clear your acne. Only you know how excruciating it feels when you have to go to work but your acne is bad. Even as strongly as I felt about the drug, I bought it after it was prescribed to me. That’s how desperate I was!!!!! Though I never took it, I can truly understand why so many people do – acne is a big blow to your confidence and happiness.
Why You Should Never Take Accutane – Part I
Many of my readers email me saying that they are thinking of taking Accutane if all else fails. Hearing the word Accutane itself gives me goose bumps. While I totally understand how having acne makes you feel desperate, you will never convince me that Accutane is a good idea. I had very strong feelings about this even when my acne was at it’s worst.
Here’s a bit of my story.
When I turned 35 and I seemed to be the only 35 year old still suffering from acne, I decided to give a reputed skin clinic a try. They had rave reviews and I hoped I would see some improvement in my skin. They promised treatment which was uniquely tailored to me. However within a couple of minutes of meeting the dermatologist my hopes were dashed to the ground. Again!!!!! However I thought I would stick with her and see what happened. After 20 years of being disappointed time and time again, somehow I hoped that this time would be different.
